Follow along on this adventure as we look for clues in the snow of just Who’s Been Here? After reading the story by Lindsay Barrett George about what Cammy, her brother William and their dog find we will see what we can find. Lots of animals stay here through the winter. Join us as we venture outside to see whose tracks we can find, where they went and what they were doing.  At the end make your own track story and enjoy hot chocolate. Dress for the weather.

This fun filled hands on experience is perfect for young children.
Children are invited by Kris Kringle himself to visit the inner workings of his Inventionasium, assist his personal team of inventors in the testing and development of future toy creations ; even meet the Master Toy Maker himself!  Each child gets a lab coat to wear while working in the Inventionasium. As honored guests kids are given hands-on access to 4 of Mr. Kringle’s Inventionasium Departments.  Kids have a chance to explore each area and engage in interactive hands-on activities, including the opportunity to invent their own toy!

197. Nela Park Christmas Lights

A tradition since 1925 is the fabulous Nela Park holiday lighting display in December through New Year's Day. Since 1970, the Nela Park holiday lighting extravaganza has stretched several blocks along Noble Road. In earlier years, the public could enter Nela Park to view the display, which was at that time, featured inside the grounds.

The events kick off at 9:00 a.m. with the YMCA Annual World's Greatest Kids' Race. Click here for more information on the race.

At 10:00 a.m. the Woollybear 500 Caterpillar Race preliminaries with Fox 8's Big Chuck and Lil' John take place on the main stage.

At 11:00 a.m. judging for the Woollybear King & Queen Costume Contest and the Woollybear Animal / Pet Costume Contest begins on the main stage.

From noon until 1:00 p.m. festival goers will be treated to a concert performed by the Singing Angels and at 1:30 p.m. the Wonderful, Wacky Woollybear Parade steps off.

Bring any child who would like to learn how to play golf to Mallard Creek and he or she will receive a FREE bucket of range balls when an adult accompanies them to our course (to sweeten the deal, I'll even throw in a free bucket of range balls for the adult who brings the child). The participating child will receive a membership card. To participate, all you have to do is bring a drivers license to leave at the counter in exchange for borrowing some junior golf clubs, and your email address, then take the kid to the range at Mallard Creek.

Enjoy an evening of music, games, and prizes that ends under the stars for a family friendly movie at Asphalt Cinema on the third Fridays of the summer months at Impett Park. The free music concert is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Local merchants also offer creative games and activities. A bubble gum blowing contest is held with prizes. Four Corners Baseball operates the concessions with our thanks! At dusk, a movie is shown on a large screen against a backdrop of tall trees. In August, West Park Early Childhood PTA will hold A Safety Fair and Ice Cream Social from 6 to 8 p.m. at the park with safety vehicles and added attractions! FREE. Asphalt Cinema is 8/19.

Select bowling centers and schools around the country are participating in the first ever Kids Bowl Free program. This program is designed by bowling centers to give back to the community and provide a safe, secure, and fun way for kids to spend time this summer.
Children whose age does not exceed a limit by a participating bowling center are eligible to register for 2 free games a day, all summer long, courtesy of the participating bowling centers along with the schools and organizations.

175. Dive-In Movies

Visitors can bring something to sit on and enjoy the movie from a spot on the lawn, or view the movie while relaxing in an inner tube in the heated luxury of Ledge Pool. Inner tubes are available by reservation only, and are $5 for single tubes and $7 for double tubes.  
Doors open at 8 p.m. the movie begins approximately at 8:45 p.m. All ages welcome to this great movie, but visitors 8 and under must be accompanied with an adult in the pool at all times. No outside floating devices will be permitted in the swimming area.  Space in the pool is limited, so be sure to reserve your inner tubes today!

It’s not easy to explain, but model trains capture many of the hearts and minds of kids and adults alike.  Train-lovers can enjoy viewing model train exhibits (G-scale, HO-scale, N-scale, S-scale, Legos, and more), exhibits with local train organizations, guided trestle hikes, listening in to train traffic conversations, crafts, movies about trains shown all day, and more!
And, head over to the conductor as he welcomes everyone to take a stroll down the Hobo Trail to discover what life was like for “America’s traveling workers.”  Hobos were very good about helping one another through codes.  Visitors can walk the Hobo Trail to view over 30 hobo signs to see some samples of how the hobos would communicate to each other by using secret messages.

Plus, A KID’S TRAIN RIDE, ($1/person), EarthWords Nature Shop selling unique train items, and refreshments for sale.  Free Admission!

172. Meet Your Friend at the Zoo!

Meet Your Best Friend at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on Saturday, June 11, and take home the purrfect cat or dog the very same day. The Zoo is teaming up with over 20 area humane organizations to find loving homes for over 100 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies most of which are available for immediate adoption. These rescue groups and shelters will also offer advice on choosing the right pet and how best to care for it. All dogs and cats will have received a medical check-up and age-appropriate vaccination. Each participating group sets its own adoption fees and policies.
The event is free and is held outdoors under tents in the Zoo's Ticket Plaza.

• Hikes with “Nora the Explorer” –
   Naturalist Nora Sindelar leads children on hikes, full of nature discovery.
• Discovery Sand Box –
   Plastic bugs, hand-carved potato bugs, earthworms made of rubber hose, rubber snakes, and more are buried in the sand for children to discover.
• Giant Habitat Felt Board –
   Children have fun placing hundreds of animal images on a 30-foot long felt board representing pond, field and forest habitats.
• Beaver and Frog Pools Water-play Areas –
   A small pool filled with water is home to a family of “beavers” (beanie toys) and plenty of sticks for building a lodge or dam.  Another small pool is filled with toy snails, snakes, crayfish, and frogs in various stages of development.
• Live Animals –
   View live animals for children to see and touch.
• Touch Table –
   Skulls and pelts to discover up-close, with a naturalist on-hand to answer questions.

From The Shelterhouse Picnic Area, a ranger will help visitors cross Hawthorn Parkway to the all purpose trail.  Follow the trail along Arbor Lane to the entrance of the Arboretum.

Experience a modern, working dairy farm in Northeast Ohio. Join us for one of our "Open Farm Days" when we welcome visitors onto our farm. You and your family can take a tour of our dairy, relax and watch the cows being milked from The Parlor. Children of all ages will enjoy the Calf Corral playground and children 5 and under will have fun in the indoor Junior Dairyman play area. Drinks and snacks will be available for sale.
